"Rather than occupying a personal self who is concerned with success, goals, or purpose, the Truth takes over and emptiness occupies us.  A deep surrender allows occupancy to change...It's all the Truth ever wanted to do."

Flowers, Painting in one hit

Orange Flowers, oil on linen

Geraniums, oil on linen

Banksias, oil on linen

Red in Green, oil on linen

These paintings were painted in one session, as an exercise. It was a learning experience in getting enough detail that I needed by pushing the wet paint around.  In this case, it is not really detail that you want but just enough to suggest. I started to get more of a feel for it in the second painting. I have put a wonderful quote below that I found so inspiring that I read from a book recently.

"Be impeccable with your Word. Speak with integrity. Say only what you  mean. Avoid using the word to speak against yourself or to gossip about others. Use the power of your word in the direction of truth and love..." Don Miguel Ruiz

A Second Paint

Three Objects 2, oil on linen

Painting this picture was an exercise in not painting what I remembered but to keep my vision on seeing as a painter. This is a second painting of the same subjects in almost the same configuration. I find the colours and tones very soothing, I think I could paint this picture many times and it would always be as if I were painting it for the first time.

More Looking than Painting

The Mystery of Form.

Four Objects, oil on linen
"At each moment we are expressing what we know ourselves to be. If we know ourselves very little we will express and manifest that unconsciousness of our true nature.
If we know who and what we are very thoroughly, we will express and manifest that in what we do.
It is all very simple."

The Lure of Glass

Pomegranates with Glass Jar, oil on linen

An interesting process, painting this fruit and jar still life. When it started to look like soup, instead of what I wanted, that was the moment for me to trust the process completely and I happily completed this in the second session.

Why was it tricky? I think the tones are all very similar, so in this case it is often quite difficult to get clarity, in mind and on the canvas.

The Calming Effects of Green

Still Life with Glass Jar, oil on linen

Painted during an emotional storm, the act of painting these pictures brought me right down to earth.
